How does 2 months equal 9 weeks?

Amelia turned 2 months old on Friday. Then, two days later, she turned 9 weeks. I'm not sure how baby ages work. I guess I'm still messed up from pregnancy dates!

Anywho... with this milestone comes a special event: real tears! On Friday, I saw actual tears coming from Amelia's blue eyes. Up until that day, she would cry but nothing came out of her still immature ducts. Now I will have to wipe away her tears in addition to my own.

Also on Friday, my friend Allison U. from Colorado flew in for the weekend. (FYI: I now have 3 friends with my name, all with unique spellings! There's Yoga Alyson, Colorado Allison, and Baby Alison.) It was great to have her here. I'm sure she was loving the California "winter". Saturday, the 4 of us (Eric, Amelia, Allyson + Allison) headed to downtown Santa Monica. We ran a few errands, did a little shopping, stopped by my friend Rohnda's work to say hello and watched the sun go down along Ocean Ave. It was Amelia's first sunset walk.

Sunday was another warm day though this time we left Eric at home to watch football. We drove to Pacific Palisades and walked around for almost 5 hours! Of course there were feedings and diaper changes along the way. We also looked at some homes (for the heck of it because they are sooooo out of my price range!) After a long day of walking, Allison and I got back to the apartment and relaxed for a bit. We planned to go out to dinner but it seemed like Amelia wouldn't like to be in the car seat again.

Around 6:30pm I started to nurse her and noticed she was not very happy. I had noticed this behavior before, but it usually subsided. This time, however, it did not. She kept pulling away, punching at my breast, and kind of head-butted me. It turned out she wasn't getting any milk. Now this is a drastic change from last month when I was making so much milk I had to freeze most of it. Which, as it turns out, was a blessing. I dipped into the reserves so Eric could feed her. Of course this made me terribly upset. Why would I go from too much to not enough? What changed? But more importantly, how do I fix it?

Eric went to Whole Foods after we ordered Chinese Food to pick up an herb called Fenugreek. This is used to supposedly increase milk supply. Of course, I don't really need it increased in the morning or afternoon, just in the evening. I've heard you start to smell like maple syrup after taking it for a few days and it's true! When I sweat, I have smell vaguely like maple syrup. I might have to keep taking this... though I hope this situation will be resolved soon!
