Flipping and flopping and chomping

Sacked out in the carseat.

Playing on her new jumperoo. She's a little too short for the middle setting
and a little too tall for the lowest setting. We have to put a book under her feet so she can bounce.

On Mother's Day before going on a walk.

The last week and a half has brought lots of new things to our lives. Amelia has been rolling from her tummy to her back but now is going from back to tummy! Previously she only did this in the crib but now I see her do it on the floor too. I can't believe it!

In addition to the flipping an' a flopping, she kind of scoots her way around the mat backwards. It's fun to watch.

Today was a crazy day. My friend Victoria is moving back to Australia and was having a small going away get together. Amelia and I drove to Granada Hills (we were both dressed warmly since it was overcast and chilly here on at the beach), and nearly roasted our butts off! Thankfully Tulsi, Victoria's daughter, had an extra outfit for Amelia to wear. We picnicked outside in the backyard but I had to cut our stay short. Poor Amelia was over tired and screeching like a dolphin. I couldn't get her to nurse or to take a nap at the house. So, I packed up and left the valley, but not before I pinched her little cheek in the car seat buckle. She, of course, cried, but was so tired that I knew once I started driving, she would be out in minutes, if not seconds.

Singing for us on Mother's Day.

I ended up driving around the hills of Brentwood in order to keep her asleep. We visited Mount Saint Mary's College, which I've never seen before, and drove through Rustic Canyon. By the time we got home, she was still sacked out. Rather than waking her, I parked under a tree and tilted my seat back some and took a nap too. Sometimes you just need to relax in your car...

Sleeping in the car.

We played a little together before it was time for her bath. Amelia was chomping on everything in site--washcloth, wood block, musical duckie, fingers, her dress, etc. So while playing, I stuck my finger in her mouth just to see if there happened to be a tooth.

Lo and behold, I felt something! After investigating, as best I could, I could see a tiny little white speck on her gums!!! Little Amelia has sprouted a tooth! Maybe our crazy nights of no sleeping are behind us (at least until the next one comes in...)

Chewing is one of Amelia's favorite pasttimes... and we now know why!
