So many new things this month!

Amelia turned 5 months and it seems like every day there is something new!

I've been so busy and tired that I haven't been doing the regular updates. So here is a list of some of the cool, new things Amelia has been doing:

Putting her feet in her mouth.
First is started with one foot. She would hold onto it and the other leg would kick, kick, kick about! Now, she's grabbing both feet and holding on to them. It makes changing her diaper a challenge.

Grabbing with both hands.
Amelia loves to grab at anything--toys, eyeglasses, mommy's hair! She will reach up from the play mat for something hanging, like the mirror, or if you have her propped up in the sitting position.

Sitting up, sort of.
She's not sitting up on her own completely, though on Sunday I propped her up and she stayed up by herself for a few minutes.

Reaching out.
I get so warm and fuzzy inside when she reaches out for me when someone else is holding her. I finally feel like she really knows who I am!

Raspberries.
This one tops the dolphin cry started (and thankfully has stopped) last month... On Monday morning she just started to make this sound. It's the cutest thing I've ever heard.

Sleeping *gasp* on her tummy.
I tried it one night, just to see what would happen. I'm so glad I did! She has been getting in some good naps and, will occasionally sleep 6 hours straight. At first she resisted, but now, that resistance seems less and less forceful. I hope in another month, she will just drift off to sleep and we won't have to try the SleepEasy Solution!

Jumping!
My friend Christine C. generously gave me her bouncy chair. It attaches to the doorway and the baby bounces or can pseudo stand and turn. I was at my wits end one day, not sure how to get her to stop crying and I remembered (thanks to Vanessa V. in New York) that we had this thing. I popped her in it and I got a big, giant smile! It was the first one I had seen in days. When Amelia is tired, smiles are hard to come by.

The sound of laughter.
Today I tickled Amelia and she really laughed! I haven't had much of a reaction to tickling in the past so this was delicious! I'm looking forward to more of the same.

Flying.
Amelia took her first flight! It was so scary and yet exciting! Last Friday, she and I flew to San Jose in the morning. Eric flew in later in the day. It was quite crazy. Just as we got to the airport, it turned out she had a poop explosion. I changed her and then got in line for her boarding pass. Turned out the flight had been essentially canceled! Larry, the nice man at Southwest, got me on the standby list for Oakland. We waited for that until the very end, and were luckily able to get on. We were the last ones to board! All in all, it was a good trip and loved seeing my friends!

New sleeping arrangement.
We finally put up the crib and Amelia is sleeping (sometimes) in it. She is moving around a lot so it is MUCH better than the co-sleeper which, really, she grew out of by 3 1/2 months!

Amelia has changed much this past few weeks, Grandma was lucky to spend some quality time with her over a four day period and she giggled, made the funniest sounds as a response to me doing the same, and she slept very well in her new crib. What a delight she is!!!!
