If you can believe it, rain in LA! Even though it poured on Thursday, Amelia and I went to a new friend's house to hang out. It was a beautiful, modern, 3 story custom home with lots of bells and whistles, like cork flooring, wheatboard furniture, radiant floor heat, etc. Along with Amelia and the other two babies, I had to wipe off my drool.
Yesterday the rain came again. As I drove to my parents' house. I saw a giant rainbow stretch out across the valley. It's a rare occurrence in LA and I will take it as a good sign. This will be a busy weekend and I have to get a few gifts--wedding reception on Saturday and Ellie's 1st birthday on Sunday--and it seemed easier to do without the little munchkin because of the rain so I decided to have my mom watch the baby.
Things went fairly well. She played, laughed, slept. But when it came to eating, she seemed agitated and unwilling. This lasted quite a long time. I couldn't figure out why she would cry at the boob and with the bottle. For some reason, it didn't occur to me that she had gas. Duh! I decided to go to the drug store and get some gripe water.
While I was gone, my mom said she passed some serious gas and then fell asleep. She had been fussing and crying and not eating for several hours so I think it just wore her out. Amelia slept from 5:00 until 11pm! I waited until 8pm before driving home. I didn't want her to wake up in the car hungry and screaming. My fears were unfounded. She slept the entire way and for a few more hours at home too.
Thankfully, she slept at night too, only waking for a little snack. Whew!
